About Masham Methodist Church
Masham Methodist Church stands at 38 Park Street in Masham, North Yorkshire. It is a Methodist place of worship and a Grade II listed building, a designation granted in 2004.
Methodism was established in Masham during the late eighteenth century, when the Wesleyan Methodists built an early chapel. The present stone church dates from 1892 and was designed in a neoclassical style, with a slate-covered roof, corner quoins, a dentilled cornice and a pedimented frontage. Its two-storey entrance elevation has four bays, with paired arched openings beneath a portico and an open balustrade above. Round-headed windows and columns add further detail. Following a National Churches Trust community grant in 2010, the building underwent extensive refurbishment. This included replacing the pews on the ground floor with seating and adding toilet and office facilities.
