St Peter’s Church is a Church of England parish church in Batley, West Yorkshire. It remains in active use, with Sunday worship at 9.00 am. The building has held Grade II* status since 29 March 1963, recognising its particular architectural and historic importance.
Founded in about 1100 by Radulphus de Paganell, the church retains a Norman tower arch and the two lower levels of its medieval tower. The tower was heightened during the 15th century and bears a clock and a sundial dated 1660. W. H. Crossland of Leeds oversaw extensive restoration from 1863 to 1870. Inside are a four-bay nave, octagonal arcade supports, exposed stonework in the chancel and outer aisles, and a 15th-century font returned to use in 1841. Other features include Edward Reginald Frampton’s painting of Christ in Glory and a reredos showing the Last Supper.
