About Church of St Mary and All Saints
The Church of St Mary and All Saints serves the Church of England parish of Little Walsingham in Norfolk. Honouring both Mary and all saints, it holds Grade I listed status. The double dedication was adopted in 1921, when the earlier name of All Saints was expanded.
Dating from about 1350 and further developed during the following century, the church is constructed in flint and finished with worked stone. Its layout comprises chancel and nave, aisles on either side, and two transepts. A narrow lead-covered spire rises above the tower at the western end. Fire devastated the building in 1961, leaving the medieval tower and northern porch standing while the remainder required reconstruction. Among the surviving furnishings is a fifteenth-century baptismal font carved with scenes representing the Crucifixion and seven sacraments. The church also contains memorials commemorating Henry and Jane Sydney and members of the Lee-Warner family.
