About Threxton, All Saints
Threxton, All Saints is a Church of England church at Threxton Hill in Norfolk, in the Thetford area. It stands between Little Cressingham and Watton and is distinguished by its circular tower. The medieval building is protected at Grade I, recognising its exceptional architectural and historic importance.
Dating from the 13th century, the church includes a round tower constructed towards the end of that century. Inside is an octagonal font from the 14th century, while at least one window contains surviving fragments of medieval coloured glass. Historic painted decoration also remains on the walls. These paintings escaped destruction during the Reformation because they had been concealed behind a partition forming part of a mausoleum. They were rediscovered during the closing decades of the 20th century.
