About Saint David
Saint David is a Church of England parish church on Church Lane in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. It continues to serve as an active place of worship and is protected as a Grade II* listed building.
The church has Norman origins dating to the 12th century, when the lower part of the tower and several narrow lancet windows may have been constructed. Most of the present fabric belongs to the 14th and 15th centuries. Built from Old Red Sandstone, it includes a nave, chancel and porch, together with a tower topped by a pyramid-shaped roof characteristic of the border area. John Pollard Seddon carried out a careful restoration in 1862–63, after which relatively few changes were made.
