About Church of the Resurrection and All Saints, Caldy
The Church of the Resurrection and All Saints, Caldy is an active Church of England place of worship in the West Kirby area of Merseyside. It belongs to the Diocese of Chester and serves as a daughter church to St Bridget’s in West Kirby. The church has Grade II listed status in recognition of its architectural and historic interest.
George Edmund Street designed the original building as a school, completed in 1868 through the support of Elizabeth Barton. Douglas and Minshull converted it into a church in 1906–07, adding the chancel, north aisle and distinctive saddleback tower. Constructed from rough-faced stone with dressed-stone details, it has a slate roof and includes a baptistry, south porch and vestry. Furnishings by Kempe include choir stalls and a marquetry reredos showing the Crucifixion. The stained glass includes work by Kempe, A. J. Davies and Trena Cox, while memorials commemorate the Barton family. Henry Willis & Sons built the two-manual organ.
