About Church of St. Margaret, Bucknall
The Church of St. Margaret, Bucknall is an active Church of England parish church in the Woodhall Spa area of Lincolnshire. It forms part of a group of five Anglican parishes serving nearby rural communities and is within Horncastle Deanery. The building has held Grade II* status since 1966. In April 2024, it offered two scheduled services each month, alongside services held on other occasions.
Dating chiefly from the 1200s, the church retains two four-bay arcades from that period, together with evidence of earlier Norman work. Its font was added in 1646. Although more historic fabric survives inside, the exterior is largely Victorian in character following work by architect James Fowler. Substantial restoration of both the principal structure and the tower took place over a period extending from 1884 to 1912.
