About St Andrew's Church, Walpole
St Andrew’s Church, Walpole, is a redundant Anglican church in Walpole, Lincolnshire. This Grade I listed building is now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust.
The church originated in the early 15th century, incorporating stonework from an older building. Built mainly of brick with ashlar details, it has a four-bay clerestoried nave, aisles, chancel, south porch and three-stage western tower. Restoration took place in 1811 and 1897, followed by work on the tower in 1902. Inside are a carved 15th-century font, a 17th-century west gallery and pulpit, and an organ made by Forster and Andrews in 1873. Its six bells date from between 1603 and 1905. Other details include rood stairs, two piscinas, paired wall cupboards and the royal arms of George III above the tower arch.
