About St. Andrew

St. Andrew is an active Church of England parish church in Billingborough, near Sleaford, Lincolnshire. Dedicated to Andrew the Apostle, it belongs to the Diocese of Lincoln and serves within a group of local churches. The church is protected as a Grade I listed building.

A place of worship existed here by the late 11th century, while the present building developed mainly during the 13th and 14th centuries, with additions continuing into the late 1400s. Built from limestone rubble with dressed stone facing, it includes a nave, aisles, chancel, south porch and a slender octagonal spire rising above an embattled tower. Extensive work took place in the 19th century, including reroofing the nave, rebuilding the chancel and installing oak seating and a carved pulpit. Other features include six bells, medieval ironwork, stained glass added in the early 20th century and an organ restored in 1929.
