About Collegiate Church of the Holy Trinity

The Collegiate Church of the Holy Trinity is an active Church of England parish church on Sleaford Road in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. It serves within a united benefice alongside several neighbouring churches and is part of the Diocese of Lincoln. The church is protected as a Grade I listed building.

A collegiate foundation was established in 1440 by Ralph Cromwell, owner of Tattershall Castle, for priests, laymen and choristers. Although an earlier Norman chapel once occupied the site, the surviving church was largely constructed between about 1465 and 1485. Built from Ancaster stone in the Perpendicular Gothic style, it has a cruciform plan, a six-bay aisled nave and a four-stage western tower. Medieval fittings include a pulpit, a screen, and joined seating and washing arrangements in the sanctuary. Seven memorial brasses survive, including elaborate examples for Cromwell and members of his family. Most medieval glazing was sold during the 18th century, while the remaining fragments were later arranged in the east window.
