About St Wulfram's Church

St Wulfram’s Church is the Church of England parish church serving Grantham, Lincolnshire. Standing on Castlegate, it remains an active place of worship and is protected as a Grade I listed building. Its prominent spire ranks behind only that of St James’ Church in Louth among Lincolnshire churches.

Dating from 1180, the church is distinguished by its 274-foot (84-metre) spire, one of the highest parish church spires in the country. Inside are four later twentieth-century stained-glass windows. Their subjects include the Nativity, St Michael overcoming the Devil, Christ rescuing St Peter on the water, and the seven sacraments. The organ originated in 1735 and has undergone several rebuilds, including major work in 1906 and the addition of a fourth manual in 1993–94. A replacement clock was installed in 1876 and began operating in February 1877.
