About St Andrew's Church, Redbourne
St Andrew’s Church, Redbourne, stands in the village of Redbourne, about four miles south of Brigg in Lincolnshire. This former Anglican place of worship is Grade I listed and has been cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust since being declared redundant in 1978.
Originating in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the church is chiefly built of limestone, with rendered sections, lead-covered roofs and some slate. Its plan includes a clerestoried nave, aisles, chancel, south porch, mausoleum and four-stage western tower. Extensive work during the late eighteenth century added chapels, plaster ceilings and the tower’s upper stages. Further restoration was undertaken by local architect W. W. Goodhand in 1888. Notable features include a 1775 font, painted and stained glass by William Collins, a medieval graveslab showing a knight with angels, and monuments to the Dukes of St Albans. The six bells include five cast by Henry Harrison II in 1774.
