About Holy Trinity
Holy Trinity is a Church of England church in Barrow-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire. Dating from around 1250, it is recognised as a Grade I listed building, reflecting its considerable architectural and historic importance.
The chancel and arcades survive from the 13th century, while the tower and aisle were added during the 14th and 15th centuries. Restorations took place in 1841, 1856 and 1868–69, including reconstruction of the northern aisle and southern porch, together with renewal of several roofs. Memorials in the chancel commemorate William Broxholme and members of the Uppleby family. The tower houses twelve bells, the earliest cast in 1636. John Harrison, the carpenter and clockmaker who developed the marine chronometer, served as choirmaster in the early 18th century. An organ with two manuals and 19 speaking stops was installed in 1946.
