About Holy Trinity Church, Leicester

Holy Trinity Church, Leicester is an active Church of England parish on Regent Road, south of the city centre and near both local universities and Leicester Royal Infirmary. This Grade II listed church follows evangelical and charismatic Anglican traditions. Its congregation includes children, young people and many students, with community work supporting homeless people in Leicester.

The parish was formed in 1838 from part of St Mary de Castro’s parish, after government funding enabled Leicester to establish two additional churches. Sydney Smirke designed the original building in a classical style. In 1872, Samuel Sanders Teulon transformed it with a High Gothic design, using reddish-purple brick and limestone details, and adding a spire and flanking turrets. Alterations completed in 2019 reorganised the worship area, entrance, balcony and stage. Five arched windows behind the chancel depict the Parable of the Sower in modern stained glass, while the marble wall includes an image of the Last Supper.
