About St Peter
St Peter is a Church of England church in Coalville, Leicestershire. Situated in the Bardon area, it is protected as a Grade II listed building. Its historic designation reflects the architectural character and special interest of the church.
Completed in 1899, the church was commissioned to commemorate the Everard family and designed by John Breedon Everard, who died in 1923 and is buried in the churchyard. Granite was used for the building, with the outer stonework arranged in an irregular pattern resembling crazy paving. The tower is covered by a distinctive saddleback roof, above which rises a slender flèche. It contains three bells dating from the church’s founding year, all made by the Loughborough bellfounders John Taylor & Co.
