About St Thomas
St Thomas is a Church of England parish church at 135 Caunce Street in Blackpool, Lancashire. It remains in active use and follows the Evangelical tradition. The parish belongs to the Blackpool deanery, within the Lancaster archdeaconry and the Diocese of Blackburn.
The church dates from 1930–32 and was designed by Henry Paley, a Lancaster architect from the practice of Austin and Paley. Built of brick with stone detailing, it has windows combining Decorated and Perpendicular Gothic tracery. The original scheme was left unfinished: construction reached the eastern end and three and a half bays of the aisled nave. Despite its incomplete form, the interior has been noted for its dignified character and imaginative details.
