About All Saints Church, West Farleigh
All Saints Church, West Farleigh is a Church of England parish church in the Kent village of West Farleigh. It is protected as a Grade I listed building, reflecting its exceptional architectural and historic importance.
The church dates from the later 11th or 12th century, with its nave and chancel forming the earliest surviving sections. Substantial additions were made during the 15th century, including the two-stage western tower, which has a battlemented parapet, trefoil-shaped bell openings and an adjoining stair turret decorated with gargoyles. Restoration took place in 1875, while the timber porch and organ chamber also date from the 19th century. The building uses Kentish ragstone, with pebbledash covering parts of the nave and chancel, and plain tiles on the roofs. Inside are rounded arches supported by tufa columns, an octagonal 17th-century font made from Bethersden marble, an 18th-century pew with pierced decoration, and memorials dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
