About Parish Church of All Saints
The Parish Church of All Saints is a Church of England parish church in Tonbridge, Kent. Dedicated to All Saints, it remains in parish use and holds Grade I listed status, reflecting its architectural and historic importance.
Built in 1233, the church is mainly Early English in style and constructed from local sandstone, traditionally believed to have come from nearby Pixot Hill. Its broad nave and chancel are accompanied by aisles, transepts and a substantial three-stage western tower with battlements and strong buttresses. The medieval fabric includes thirteenth-century arcades and sedilia, a fourteenth-century porch and a medieval nave roof later altered in the fifteenth century. Rebuilding took place in 1814, followed by restoration in 1849, when the present chancel roof was added. Notable fittings and memorials include sixteenth-century brass remains, a carved monument to Walter and Barbara Roberts, a timber reredos from the 1920s, an organ gallery and eight bells.
