About All Saints, Hollingbourne
All Saints, Hollingbourne is a Church of England parish church on Church Green in Hollingbourne, Kent. It remains the village’s parish church and is protected as a Grade I listed building.
Construction began during the 14th century, followed by alterations and additions in the 15th century, 1638, 1869 and 1903. George Gilbert Scott Jr oversaw restoration work in 1876. Built from flint and dressed stone beneath tiled roofs, the church has north and south aisles, a chancel, chapel, vestry and a three-stage western tower with gargoyles and a battlemented top. Inside are medieval arcades, a crown-post nave roof, an octagonal font and a hexagonal pulpit dating from the 17th century. Numerous memorials commemorate the Culpeper family, formerly associated with Leeds Castle and Hollingbourne Manor. A 17th-century velvet embroidery linked to the family, now thought to be a funeral pall, is kept in the vestry.
