About St Peter's Church
St Peter's Church serves Seaview on the Isle of Wight as an Anglican parish church. It remains a place of worship and is protected as a Grade II listed building.
Thomas Hellyer designed the church, which was completed in 1859 to serve initially as a chapel of ease. Its original plan included a four-bay nave, a northern aisle and a porch on the south side. Seaview became a separate ecclesiastical parish in 1907. A southern aisle and the Lady Chapel were later added as memorials to those lost in war. The church originally contained a modest Bevington pipe organ, which Lewis enlarged towards the close of the nineteenth century.
