About All Saints Pastoral Centre
All Saints Pastoral Centre is a Grade II* listed religious complex in Radlett, Hertfordshire. Built as a convent for an Anglican community, it later served as a Catholic centre for conferences, meetings and retreats. The property was sold to a developer, with the transaction completed in 2014. It remained undeveloped in 2019 and was named by the Twentieth Century Society as one of ten buildings at risk.
Leonard Stokes produced the original plans in 1899, and the main buildings were completed in 1901 around a garden, with an internal cloister connecting the meeting rooms. Ninian Comper designed the adjoining chapel, of which the first section was finished in 1927. His son Sebastian enlarged it in 1963. At the western end, a Harrison & Harrison organ stands beneath the rose window. The complex received its listed status in 1972 and was acquired by Westminster’s Roman Catholic archdiocese the following year.
