About Church of All Saints, Kings Langley
The Church of All Saints, Kings Langley is an active Church of England parish church in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. With origins in the medieval period, it remains a place of worship and is protected as a Grade II* listed building.
The parish church was recorded by 1215, while its oldest surviving fabric is the 13th-century chancel. The nave dates mainly from the following century, and the aisles, arcades, north chapel and three-level tower reflect 15th-century work. Built externally of flint with Totternhoe stone details and red-tiled roofs, the church is largely Perpendicular in character. Its low, battlemented and buttressed tower carries a small central spire. Extensive Victorian restoration included creating a royal chapel in the extended north aisle and moving there the tomb of Edmund of Langley, first Duke of York. Other notable survivals include a 17th-century timber pulpit, six bells, and the monument to Sir Ralph Verney and his wife Eleanor.
