About St Mary's Church
St Mary’s Church stands on Mona Road in Menai Bridge, Gwynedd. It is an active Church of England parish church and is recognised for its architectural significance through its Grade II listing.
Henry Kennedy designed the building in the Decorated Gothic manner, and construction finished in 1858. It succeeded the older place of worship at Llandysilio. The walls combine uncoursed rubble stone with contrasting sandstone details. Mayer supplied stained glass in 1869, while windows by Shrigley and Hunt followed in 1876. Within the elevated sanctuary is a granite reredos divided into three sections, installed along the eastern wall in 1885. The octagonal granite font, made in 1900, bears decorative carvings of foliage.
