About St Peter's Church
St Peter’s Church is a small Anglican parish church in a rural setting near Llanbedrgoch, Gwynedd. Dedicated to St Peter, it remains a place of worship and forms part of a group of three parishes. The church is protected at Grade II* in recognition of the importance of its surviving medieval structure.
The nave and chancel originate from the fifteenth century, while transepts were probably added during the seventeenth century to create a cruciform plan. Built of rubble stone with sandstone detailing, the church has a slate roof and a western bellcote containing a single bell. Restorations took place in 1840 and 1885. Notable details include two carved faces beside the medieval north doorway, one shown in a mitre. A reading desk incorporates medieval bench ends, including a carving of a mermaid with a mirror and comb. The church also retains an octagonal font and several seventeenth-century memorials.
