About St Thomas' Church, Pendleton
St Thomas’ Church, Pendleton stands on Broad Street in Salford, Greater Manchester. It remains an active Church of England parish church within the Diocese of Manchester and forms part of the Salford All Saints’ Team Ministry with several neighbouring churches. The church is protected as a Grade II listed building.
Built from 1829 to 1831, it was designed by Francis Goodwin and Richard Lane, with financial support from the Church Building Commission. The Gothic Revival building is faced in ashlar and comprises an aisled nave, chancel and three-stage western tower, topped by pinnacles and a battlemented parapet. Inside are galleries on three sides, stained glass showing episodes from the life of St Thomas, and an east window dating to the 1840s. Samuel Renn made the three-manual organ in 1839, while the eight bells were cast by John Taylor & Co in 1906.
