About Parish Church of St Mary, Radcliffe
The Parish Church of St Mary, Radcliffe is an active Church of England parish church in Radcliffe, part of Bury in Greater Manchester. It holds Grade I listed status, recognising its exceptional historic importance. The designation was made in 1966, when the building carried the dedication of St Mary and St Bartholomew. Its present name followed the union of several nearby parishes in 1991.
Dating from the fourteenth century and built around 1350, the church gained its tower approximately a century later. Repairs to the roof were completed across 2008 and 2009 at a cost of £250,000. Flooding on 26 December 2015 left the site inaccessible for several days and caused damage valued at thousands of pounds, affecting both the fabric and treasured objects. Within the burial ground are war graves for six soldiers from the First World War and three from the Second.
