About Holy Trinity Church, Bury
Holy Trinity Church, Bury stands on Spring Street in Bury, Greater Manchester. Formerly an Anglican parish church within the Diocese of Manchester, it was declared redundant in 2010. Its parish subsequently became part of the new Roch Valley parish alongside those of St Peter and St Thomas. The church is protected as a Grade II listed building.
Designed by Edward Graham Paley, the church was constructed from 1863 to 1865 and enlarged around 1920. It is an Early English-style sandstone building with dressed stone details and roofs of Welsh slate. The layout comprises a nave, northern aisle and porch, chancel, Lady chapel and vestry. A planned southern aisle and northern tower with a spire were not completed. Inside, rounded piers support a five-bay arcade positioned along the building’s centre. The Lady chapel contains a colourful reredos installed in 1987 as a memorial to the First World War.
