Ealing Abbey is a Roman Catholic Benedictine monastery and active parish church at 2 Marchwood Crescent in London. It belongs to the English Benedictine Congregation and is home to a community of monks. The Grade II listed church is dedicated to Saint Benedict, with parish and monastic worship both taking place there. Sunday Mass is held at 9:00 am.
Established by monks from Downside in 1897, the community became a dependent priory in 1916, an independent priory in 1947 and an abbey in 1955. Frederick Walters designed the church, which was built in stages from the late 1890s; his son Edward completed its western section in 1934. Bombing in 1940 caused extensive destruction, and repairs undertaken between 1957 and 1962 included enlargement and completed transepts. Notable features include the painted hammerbeam roof, a large west window showing the Virgin’s coronation, a war memorial window and a painting by Jusepe de Ribera.
