About Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield
Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield is an active Anglican church on Basingwerk Avenue in Greenfield, Holywell, Flintshire. It forms part of the Estuary and Mountain Mission Area, under the Archdeaconry and Diocese of St Asaph. Its architectural and historic significance was recognised with Grade II listing in 1991.
Ewan Christian designed the original building, which was erected during 1870 and 1871 before opening for worship later in 1871. The interior plan provided a nave alongside a southern aisle, with pointed lancet-style windows. Christian’s proposed eastern additions, comprising a polygonal-ended chapel and vestry, were not carried out. John Douglas, an architect based in Chester, later designed a relatively plain chancel, added during 1910 and 1911. Following this enlargement, the church was formally consecrated in April 1911.
