About Saint Bartholomew, Sealand
Saint Bartholomew, Sealand is a Church of England church in Deeside, Flintshire, Wales. It belongs to the Diocese of St Asaph and has Grade II listed status.
Built from 1865 to 1867, the church was designed by Chester architect John Douglas and consecrated on 15 October 1867. It is among his earliest church designs and follows the High Victorian Gothic Revival style. The River Dee Company provided the site and contributed towards the cost. Constructed from sandstone and red, rock-faced stone quarried at Helsby in Cheshire, the building has an aisleless nave, chancel, small northern transept for the organ, and a tower beside the chancel containing a vestry. The tower is topped by a pyramidal spire. Hardman & Co. made the east window glass in 1867, donated by Douglas, while Kempe produced the west window glass in 1880.
