About St. Patrick's Church, Patrington

St. Patrick's Church, Patrington is an active Church of England parish church in the centre of Patrington, East Riding of Yorkshire. Dedicated to St Patrick, it is protected as a Grade I listed building and is sometimes known as the Queen of Holderness.

Largely constructed during the 14th century, the church replaced earlier buildings whose surviving remains include Norman stonework and 13th-century masonry. Work began around 1300 with the south transept, followed by the north transept, central tower, nave and chancel. The Black Death interrupted construction in the late 1340s, and the east window and spire were completed by 1400. The cruciform building is chiefly Decorated Gothic, with a four-bay nave and chancel, aisled transepts and a crossing tower. Its spire rises to 175 feet. Notable interior features include clustered piers, stone vaulting, medieval timber roofs and a Lady Chapel containing a late 13th-century figure of the Virgin and Child.
