About Old Fintry Parish Church
Old Fintry Parish Church is an active Church of Scotland parish church in Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire. It is designated as a Category B listed building. The parish forms part of the Presbytery of Stirling, and its minister is shared with Balfron, where the manse is situated.
The parish appears in records from 1207 and was initially dedicated to St Modan. Before the Reformation, it was governed by the collegiate church in Dunbarton dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The present church was constructed in 1823 from local stone, on ground used for Christian worship over many centuries. Notable features include a rare cantilevered staircase at the front and stained glass behind the pulpit commemorating local people who died in both world wars. The memorial glass has undergone renovation.
