St George’s Church, Tiverton is an active Church of England parish church in Tiverton, Devon. It is protected as a Grade I listed building, reflecting its recognised architectural and historic importance. The church continues to serve its parish while retaining the character of its early eighteenth-century design.
Construction took place from 1714 to 1733, with 1727 traditionally given as its building date. John James was the architect. Architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner considered the interior notably harmonious and observed that subsequent changes had done little to disrupt its original unity. Among the church’s notable fittings is a pipe organ made by Hele & Co., a firm associated with organ building in the South West.
