St Patrick’s Parish Church stands on Castle Street in Ballymena, County Antrim. An active Anglican place of worship, it serves as the principal church of the parish of Kirkinriola and Ballyclug and has a civic role within the town. The church is designated as a Grade B+ listed building.
It succeeded an early eighteenth-century church on Church Street, where the former tower and burial ground remain. The present building first opened in 1855 but was badly damaged by a fire in December 1879. Its original builder reconstructed it to the earlier design, and it reopened in 1881. The tower contains twelve bells, recast at Whitechapel in 1987 from an eight-bell ring installed in 1895. They were dedicated in November 1987 and first sounded for worship that Christmas Eve. An older bell from the previous parish church is also preserved in the car park, where it can still be rung.
