About Second Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church
Second Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church is a Presbyterian Church in Ireland place of worship in the village of Ballyeaston, County Antrim. It stands in the Six Mile Valley, around two miles north-east of Ballyclare, and continues to serve its congregation.
The congregation began at nearby Rashee in 1763 and relocated to the present site five years later. Formerly associated with the Secession tradition, it adopted its present name after entering the Presbyterian Church in Ireland’s General Assembly in 1846. The church was built in 1799 with a simple, barn-like form. A substantial refurbishment in 1901 added the entrance porch and tower, introduced a gallery and repositioned the pulpit on the eastern wall. The tower is crowned by a bronze cupola, a feature rarely found on Irish Presbyterian churches.
