About Ballintoy Parish Church
Ballintoy Parish Church stands on Harbour Road, a short distance from Ballintoy in County Antrim. It is the village’s principal Church of Ireland church and lies near the northern edge of the Diocese of Connor. The church remains a parish place of worship and is protected as a Grade B+ listed building.
The present building was finished in 1813, replacing an earlier church. Henry Wynne prepared the design, and the work was overseen by the Revd Robert Trail. Its two-bay nave has one transept on the north side, while a small chapel or baptistry separates these spaces. The tower survives from the previous structure. Telford & Telford of Dublin installed an organ in 1857. Alterations in 1883 included new seating, pulpit, floor and heating, alongside work on the roof and spire. A hurricane damaged the roof in 1894. Outside, a sundial and tide clock carry the date 1817, while the historic bell records recasting in 1686 and 1718.
