About St John the Evangelist's Church, Truro

St John the Evangelist’s Church is a Church of England parish church in Truro, Cornwall. Built in 1828, it is recognised as a Grade II listed building and continues to serve as a parish church.

Devonport architect Philip Sambell designed the original building. William Henry Reid of Plymouth altered it in 1860, before James Arthur Reeve of Exeter oversaw extensive work in 1884. This included replacing the plaster ceiling with one of carved timber, installing stained glass made by Heaton, Butler and Bayne, and adding a new organ. The church reopened in October 1884, with further changes following in 1892. Its Forster and Andrews organ, dating from the 1884 works, was enlarged by the Truro firm Heard and Son in 1895.
