About St Winwaloe Church
St Winwaloe Church is an active Church of England parish church in Poundstock, Cornwall. Dating from around 1250, it is protected as a Grade I listed building and forms part of a joint parish with seven other churches in the surrounding area.
The transept survives from the 13th century, while the nave, aisle, chancel and western tower were added in the late 15th century. George Fellowes Prynne restored the building in 1896. Notable fittings include a Gothic font, probably made during the 13th century, and a Jacobean pulpit. Three faded medieval wall paintings depict the Tree of Deadly Sins, a warning concerning Sabbath observance, and the weighing of souls. The dedication was changed from St Winwaloe to St Neot before the original name was restored during the 1970s. A single-manual pipe organ remains, although an electric instrument is used for services.
