About Church of St Martin and St Meriadocus
The Church of St Martin and St Meriadocus serves as a Church of England parish church in Camborne, Cornwall. Mostly built during the fifteenth century, and dated to 1450, it is designated at Grade I. It shares a benefice with the Anglican churches at Tuckingmill and Penponds.
James Piers St Aubyn directed extensive work in 1861 and 1862. This included taking down the gallery at the western end, renewing roofs and exchanging box pews for lower seating. Decorative floor tiles, a granite baptismal font and coloured glass made by the London firm of Lavers, Barraud and Westlake were installed. Further alterations under St Aubyn followed in 1878 and 1879, adding a large southern aisle lit by granite windows in the Perpendicular style. Inside are memorials to several members of the Pendarves family. An organ first installed in 1868 was later enlarged to three manuals, while the tower holds eight bells cast between 1767 and 1882.
