About Church of St Margaret

The Church of St Margaret is a Church of England church in Wyton, Cambridgeshire. It is designated as a Grade I listed building, reflecting its architectural and historic significance.

A place of worship existed on the site by 1086, while elements of the present building date from about 1300. The nave arcades belong to this period, and substantial piers beside the chancel indicate the position of a former central tower from the 12th century. Traces of its supporting buttresses remain visible. The oak roof is thought to be 15th-century and incorporates 22 carved angels. The font is approximately 700 years old and features shallow Norman-style arches. Much of the stained glass is Victorian, alongside medieval remnants and 18th-century heraldic panels. The tower has gargoyles, while its octagonal spire includes battlemented bands, two tiers of openings and a weathervane.
