About Church of St Mary
The Church of St Mary is an Anglican parish church in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, serving the parish of Godmanchester within the Diocese of Ely. It remains an active place of worship in the Church of England and is protected with Grade I status.
The earliest parts of the church originate from the thirteenth century, with much of the surviving structure added between then and the fifteenth century. Its tower is later, dating from 1623. Among the notable interior features are choir stalls from the late fifteenth century, fitted with misericords. The church hosted BBC One’s *Songs of Praise* in 1976 and again in October 2003. The later broadcast included the hymn tune *Godmanchester*, composed by Peter Moger, who was the vicar at the time.
