About Bury Park United Reformed Church
Bury Park United Reformed Church is a former place of worship in Luton, Bedfordshire. The Grade II listed building ceased regular worship following its final service on 9 July 2023, when the congregation joined with other United Reformed congregations in the town.
The church originated through an initiative of King Street Congregational Chapel. A temporary chapel, costing £800, opened in October 1895, while the present structure welcomed worshippers in November 1903 after a lengthy fundraising effort. George Baines designed it in the Perpendicular Gothic style, using red brick, Costessey stone detailing and four granite columns to carry the arches at the crossing. Its pipe organ, made by Norman and Beard, has two manuals and 13 stops and was inaugurated in February 1906. The church adopted its present name in 1972, following the creation of the United Reformed Church.
