About St Mary & All Saints

St Mary & All Saints is a Church of England parish church in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Designated Grade I, it serves as Kidderminster’s civic church and belongs to the Kidderminster Ismere group of churches.

A church was established here by 1086. Although a consecration was recorded in 1315, this is thought to concern the chancel, while most of the present fabric comes from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Alterations in 1847 included new access beneath the tower, removal of the west galleries and restoration of monuments. An organ chamber followed in 1874, and J. A. Chatwin renewed the tower’s facing between 1893 and 1895. Giles Gilbert Scott designed the Whittall Chapel in the early 1920s and later added the main organ case. The tower now houses twelve ringing bells, along with an additional flat sixth, cast in 2003 and dedicated the following year.
