The Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint Catherine of Alexandria is a Roman Catholic church on Worcester Road in Droitwich, Worcestershire. The Grade II* listed building is particularly distinguished by its extensive interior mosaics, whose design reflects Byzantine art and the churches of Ravenna.
Plans were prepared by architect Frank Barry Peacock before the First World War, although construction was delayed and the foundation stone was set in 1919. Walter Loveridge Hodgkinson funded the church as a memorial to his wife, Catherine, and the first Mass took place in 1921. Gabriel Pippet designed the mosaics, which Maurice Josey produced with assistance from Fred Oates using Venetian glass tesserae. Their subjects include Saint Richard of Chichester, the Virgin Mary and nine groups of angels. Pippet also carved the capitals of the nave’s twelve granite columns, stone figures and oak Stations of the Cross. The mosaics were professionally cleaned and repaired in 2025, while a rare Cosmatesque floor discovered in the Lady Chapel was restored in 2026.
