About St Giles' Church

St Giles' Church is an active Church of England parish church on Brighton Road in Horsham, West Sussex. It remains a place of worship and forms part of a united benefice with the parishes of St Peter, Henfield, and St Peter, Woodmancote. The church is protected as a Grade II* listed building in recognition of its architectural and historic significance.

A church stood on the site by 1086, while the earliest fabric in the present building belongs to the 13th century. The aisleless nave has rendered walls, blocked medieval entrances and a piscina from that period. Later work substantially altered the building: the chancel was restored in 1710, the western section and timber bell turret were rebuilt, and the gallery dates from 1748. Further restoration took place in 1885, when the porch front was renewed. Other features include a brick vestry, an octagonal medieval font and an Art Deco window added to the organ loft in 1927.
