About Holy Trinity Heath Town
Holy Trinity Heath Town is a Church of England parish church in the Heath Town district of Wolverhampton, West Midlands. It remains in active use and forms part of the Diocese of Lichfield, within the Wolverhampton deanery and Walsall archdeaconry. The building is listed at Grade II.
The church was constructed from 1850 to 1852 to plans prepared by Edward Banks in 1849, and was consecrated on 22 July 1852 by the Bishop of Lichfield. Its original design included a six-bay nave with aisles, a chancel, an organ chamber, a vestry and a tower rising to about 43 metres. Dressed stone was used throughout the interior and exterior, while the seating and doors were made from oak. Minton encaustic tiles covered the chancel floor. A burial ground of roughly seven acres surrounds the church and includes a listed lych gate serving as a war memorial and listed almshouses in the Jacobean style.
