St. Catherine's Catholic Church is an active Roman Catholic parish on Bristol Street in Birmingham, within the Archdiocese of Birmingham. The parish supports a Justice and Peace group and participates in Citizens UK locally. It also maintains close links with the neighbouring Catholic primary school, where children prepare for reconciliation, communion and confirmation.
The parish began in 1874, with its first Gothic Revival church opening the following year near today’s Holloway Circus. Built in stages, it gained a chancel, Lady Chapel and sacristy by 1893, followed by a tower in 1909. Birmingham City Council acquired the building for redevelopment connected with the Inner Ring Road, and it was closed and demolished in 1964. Its replacement opened later that year at the junction with Irving Street. Constructed from brick and concrete, the circular church has a dome and a centrally positioned altar. Its Stations of the Cross were retained from the earlier building.
