About Catholic Church of St Mary Immaculate

The Catholic Church of St Mary Immaculate is an active Roman Catholic parish at 45 West Street, south-west of Warwick town centre and beyond the West Gate. It remains open for worship, with a Saturday service at 5.00 pm, and holds Grade II heritage status.

Designed by E. W. Pugin, the church opened on 12 May 1860 and became Warwick’s earliest permanent place of Roman Catholic worship. Its red-brick walls are complemented by Bath stone detailing in the Decorated Gothic style. The building was consecrated on 15 June 1939. Notable features include apse glass made by Birmingham firm Hardman & Co in 1861, a later rose window showing Christ the King and saints, and further windows by Warwick-based French artist Tony Dury. Fourteen painted Stations of the Cross were installed in 1897. The timber bellcote carries a slate spire, while its bell was cast in Dublin in 1860.
