About St Mary Magdalene's Church, Lillington
St Mary Magdalene's Church, Lillington is an active Church of England parish church in the Lillington area of Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Standing where Vicarage Road meets Church Lane, it serves a community of around 11,000 people. The church has held Grade II listed status since 1949.
The oldest fabric includes a doorway that may pre-date the Norman Conquest and part of the chancel’s southern wall. Its Perpendicular Gothic tower was erected around 1480, while much of the remaining building was constructed or renewed from 1847 to 1884. This work enlarged the aisles, added roof dormers, reconstructed most of the chancel and created a Lady Chapel and sacristy. Three stained-glass windows were made by C. E. Kempe and Company between 1895 and 1920. The tower contains eight bells, including one dating from about 1480, while its clock was installed in 1897.
