About St Andrew's Church

St Andrew’s Church is an Anglican parish church in Gatton Park, near Redhill in Surrey. Standing beside Gatton Hall, it historically served both the parish and the Monson family as a private chapel. The church is protected as a Grade I-listed building.

A church was documented on the site in 880, while surviving medieval elements include a thirteenth-century font and piscina. Much of the present building reflects an unusual 1834 restoration commissioned by Frederick, Baron Monson, with E. Webb as architect. Its interior resembles a collegiate chapel, with opposing pews lining the aisle. Baron Monson installed historic furnishings gathered across Europe, including an altar and pulpit from Nuremberg, doors from Rouen and stained glass from Aarschot. The north transept contains the family pew, reached through a private entrance once linked to Gatton Hall by a covered passage, and furnished with a fireplace and upholstered seating.
